What a Women Wants in a Man

All right guys, here are some findings, all backed by at least some research, that reveal what women really look for in a man. You may be surprised by some of these statements in the list, but the research is pretty recent. Maybe we all can learn some new facts about the general female population. 1. Women most likely avoid dominant men as long-term romantic partners because a dominant man may also be domineering in the household. (Personality and Individual Differences, the Universities of St. Andrews and Durham, England) 2. Women view facial masculinity--square jaws and well-defined brow ridges--as good characteristics for short-term partners, while more feminine traits (some say Girly Man) are perceived as better for long-term mates. (Personality and Individual Differences, same study) 3. Women believe that stubbly shaven men may offer women the best worlds- not too strongly masculine, but mature and with the potential to grow a full beard. (Northumbria University study) 4. Women, when sizing up a man, take their cues from other women around him. The more females she sees smiling at a man, the likelier she is to consider the guy a good catch. (Benedict Jones, University of Aberdeen, Scotland) 5. Women consider deep voices in men more attractive, dominant, masculine, sexy, assertive, confident and friendly. (Sarah Evans, PhD student) 6. Women think short men are more unattractive. Research reveals that only 4 per cent of women would consider going out with a man shorter than them. Men below 5ft 7in were thought the most unattractive. (Personality and Individual Differences) 7. Women consider very tall men equally unacceptable. (Personality and Individual Differences, same study) 8. Women derive pleasure as directly linked to the size of their partner's bank balance. They found that the wealthier a man is, the more frequently his partner has orgasms. The phenomenon is an “evolutionary adaptation” that is hard-wired into women, driving them to select men on the basis of their perceived quality. (Dr. Thomas Pollet, Newcastle University)

9. Women in South Africa prefer their men hairless, at least when it comes to body hair. (Royal Phillips Electronics, Dutch manufacturer)

10. Women prefer men with intelligence and ambition, the greater of both, the better. (Sheena Iyengar, Itamar Simonson, Emir Kamenica)

11. Women who got along well with their dads as kids are attracted to men who resemble their fathers; whereas, women who had a bad father-daughter relationship do not. (Lynda Boothroyd and colleagues, Durham University, England)

12. Women rank men higher in terms of desirability and prestige far more than dominance. (Jeffrey Snyder, University of California, Los Angeles)

13. Women are more likely to find a man attractive if he has long legs and knows how to use them. (Wroclaw University, Poland)

14. Women heterosexuals are not nearly as excited by viewing film of naked men as they are when viewing film of naked women. (Dr. Meredith Chivers)

15. Women experience huge rushes of dopamine and oxytocin from the pleasure centers in their brains when connecting through talking. (Louann Brizendine, The Female Brain)

16. Women are dominated by the yearnings of "self-love," by the wish to be the object of admiration and sexual need. (Marta Meana, University of Nevada at Las Vegas)

17. Women are stimulated by a Maserati revving up. In the study, a group of women were asked to listen to a variety of cars from economy models to luxury cars while their hormone levels were monitored. After listening to a Maserati, 100% of the women showed increased levels of testosterone. (Hiscox, British car insurer)

18. Women get "turned on" by flirting, candlelight, and dancing. (Marianne Jacobbi, Match.com)

19. Women are sexually aroused after smelling the chemical found in male sweat. (Journal of Neuroscience, University of California at Berkeley)

20. Women prefer the scent of men with genes somewhat similar to their own over the scent of nearly genetically identical or totally dissimilar men. (Bjorn Carey, 2002 Study, Live Science)

21. Women are attracted to men wearing the color blue. Guys who frequently wear blue are "stable, faithful, constant and always there." (Leatrice Eiseman, Director Pantone Color Institute)
