Doofus Dave Daubenmire of the Salt & Light Brigade Invades Serpent Mound

A group of-Christian cultists traveled to Southern Ohio's Serpent Mount Native American burial site in Peebles on Sunday, saying they “hoped their prayer might prevent unspecified dark energy from being unleashed upon the world.”

The cult or prayer group, known as the "Salt & Light Brigade," was met by the American Indian Movement of Ohio, whose members had seen an event description on Facebook and were keen to protect the sanctity of a historic site they regard as sacred.

The leader of the “brigade,” Dave Daubenmire, proclaimed: “This land, we take it in the name of Jesus." Authorities were summoned, per the Columbus Dispatch, but no arrests were made.

Daubenmire told the Cincinnati Enquirer that the mound is a "dark place" where "dark energy" is released. "I'm not calling the Indians dark," he said. "This has nothing to do with the Indians. We went there because we believe dark energy is released there."

This is not – my any means – Dave Daubenmire's first rodeo in the world of "Fundagelicals"-- a recent coinage for “fundamentalist or evangelical Christians who evangelize or espouse fundamentalist beliefs for any cause."

I thought you may like to know more about “Coach” Daubenmire. I feel his views are so controversial that he poses a possible threat to our culture and our society. He certainly doesn't speak for Christians who promote love, peace, and brotherhood.

We should also understand the importance of preserving Serpent Mound, its history, and its significance to American Indians. Serpent Mound is an internationally known National Historic Landmark built by the ancient American Indian cultures of Ohio and is on the U.S. Tentative List for possible World Heritage inscription by UNESCO, a designation reserved for only the most authentic and historically significant sites.

Coach” Daubenmire

Dave Daubenmire, a former Ohio football coach at Lakewood High School (London), was spurred to action when attacked and eventually sued by the ACLU in the late 1990’s for mixing prayer with his coaching. After a two year battle for his 1st Amendment rights and a determination to not back down, the ACLU relented and offered him an out of court settlement.

(“ACLU declares victory in Ohio school ...” ACLU Release. October 19, 1999.)

As a result of the experience, Coach Daubenmire heard the “call” to move out of coaching a high school team and to forming “Pass the Salt Ministries” to encourage “the Body of Christ to step into the cultural war.” The group contends: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood… PASS THE SALT is convinced that God has given the Body a window of opportunity to take our culture back.” The group says they are “not an organization but an ORGANISM dedicated to restoring righteousness to America.”

Now, you might think prayer and football is not that bad of a combination; however, you must investigate the persona of the “Coach” and his beliefs. The messenger of this “organism” and his prejudicial slant with “the word” is extremely problematic. This blog entry attempts to show that invading Serpent Mound is simply a crazy stunt by a pseudo-Christian organization that follows a domineering, conspiracy-pushing lunatic.

Daubenmire's willingness to stand with Judge Roy Moore in Alabama and the 10 commandments in Washington DC has enabled him to partner with some of the nationally known voices in America. In 2010, Coach actually made an unsuccessful bid for election to Congress in the 18th District in Ohio.

Daubenmire, who also hosts a podcast, recently made headlines after comparing the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Adolf Hitler. And, earlier this year, he said he planned to sue the NFL because he felt the Super Bowl half-time show featuring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira was inappropriate. Daubenmire claims that the halftime show should have come with a warning because it was too provocative, and said watching its “pornographic” content could “keep him from getting into the kingdom of Heaven.”

Daubenmire also said that broadcasting the halftime show without said warning was “discriminatory” against the values he has in his house, saying in a YouTube video “you can’t just do that. I want to sue [the NFL] for about $867 trillion.”

(Christy Somos. “Outraged 'Coach Dave' wants to sue NFL for trillions over 'pornographic' Super Bowl halftime show.” CTV News. February 7, 2020.)

Coach Dave is an anti-Semite and a Holocaust denier. On August 26th, 2019, He displayed an old Bible he had found – a Pronouncing Edition of the Bible printed in 1900. In that Bible there was a statistics chart that listed the population of Jews in the world at 7,500,000. This number was all that Daubmire needed to go off on one of his frequent anti-Semitic rants.

I’m not going to get into the depth about it because you are going to call me names, . . . In 1900, there were 7,500,000 in the world. This ain’t forged. Folks, 7,500,000 Jews in the world. Can somebody explain to me how six million of them died in Germany? That is all I am going to say. I’ll let you figure the rest out. . .Forty years later, six million of them died? In Germany? They were all in Germany and died in Germany? Uh oh, I’m making some of you nervous.”

(Ed Brayton. “Coach Dave Denies Genocide of Six Million Jews by Hitler.” Patheos. August 29, 2019.)

Daubenmire apparently doesn’t know that being Jewish is both a religion and ethnicity. The estimate Daubmire is pointing out has to do with adherents to the Jewish faith and not the number of ethnic Jews. Besides, a study by the Berman Jewish Policy Archive at Stanford puts that number at 16.6 million Jews worldwide in 1939, with 9.5 million of them living in Europe at the time. That pretty much destroys his position. Daubenmire perpetuates the fallacy that if something is printed in a bible, it must be true.

Daubenmire is also a racist. Dave Daubenmire took his grandchildren to see the Christmas display at the zoo on December 23, 2019, and the trip reinforced his opposition to interracial marriage. In a YouTube video after the trip, he said …

At the zoo last night, I don’t think I saw one oriental married to a black guy … Interracial marriage is wrong. You don’t see eagles marrying buzzards. You don't see it happening.”

(Aleia Woods. “Twitter Reacts To MAGA ‘Pastor’ Comparing Interracial Marriage To Zoo Animals.” News One. December 28, 2019.)

Add another label to Daubenmire's Fundagelical beliefs – he's a bigoted homophile. One day after Daubenmire gave a keynote speech at an Ohio’s Harrison County Republican Party event, he referred to Pete Buttigieg as “Mayor Pete Buttplug” on his internet show, claiming: “We need to make homosexuality unthinkable again.”

At the event, local GOP leaders snapped smiling selfies with Daubenmire, who has previously compared gay sex to child murder and claimed that “playing sports turns women into lesbians.”

The Republicans quickly hailed the fundraiser as a success, with executive committee member Chuck Harrah saying the event brought together “like-minded people” who “believe in Christian values.”

(Rhuaridh Marr. “Dave Daubenmire referred to Buttigieg as 'Mayor Buttplug' in homophobic rant.” Washington Metro Weekly. October 23, 2019.)

I don't know how to label this Daubenmire conception, but he once commented on how soccer was a satanic plot designed to prevent fathers from talking football with their sons and thus destroy the nuclear family. How about just “nuts”?

And, as you might have guessed by now, Dave Daubenmire is a fervent supporter of Donald Trump. He claims“Donald Trump is masculine,” and “Donald Trump says the things that men said a generation ago. He still says it."

According to Daubenmire, “sissified Christians” have been “conditioned” to reject some of the president’s rhetoric. To back up his claim, Daubenmir said he was in Wisconsin in September and was banned from flying because he wouldn’t wear a mask to stop the spread of the “plandemic.”

That’s Donald Trump right there folks,” the Hebron, Ohio native said. “He’s robust. Strong. Lusty. Sinewy. He resembles a man. He’s coarse as opposed to soft or delicate. Bold. Brave.” He then asked his assistant to look up the meaning of robust.

According to Daubenmire, nowadays, “Women have become men, men have become women. The old switcheroo.”

I'll end this post by letting Daubenmire speak for himself. Here are some of his comments from his December 18, 2020 rant …

Jesus Christ has been criminalized in America … He has been expunged from education, government, healthcare, counseling, media, military, and every other area of public discourse. He has been banished to the church where he is occasionally offered the opportunity to appear. But those appearances are becoming rarer everyday as the Church gives way to feel good psychobabble masquerading as Truth …

America is suffering from Truth decay and in the place of Jesus we have substituted something called 'science.' Science has now become the arbiter and determiner of all Truth. Where American children were once taught to 'trust Jesus' we are now being exhorted to ‘trust science.” What do we do when 'science' lies to us? Where do we go for Truth when Truth no longer matters …

Christians are forced to pay taxes to support “public” schools where the values they teach in their home are undermined. The schools teach 'theories' as if they were true. Evolution, sexual orientation, selective gender, man-made climate change, reproductive choice, are all voodoo science based on theories. NONE of them represent Truth. Yet they are taught as Truth…under the historical lie of “the separation between the church and state” …

Now they want to tell us that Joe Biden was elected President. They convince you that all votes count…legal or not. They tell you the election was honest. They tell you no fraud took place. They tell you that you can trust the machines…the machines do not lie. The most secure election in history, they tell us. Your TV nooze “amen’s” and repeats the lies …

Masks do not prevent you from getting the virus. I don’t want to argue with you. I will present the evidence and then let you make you own choices … In fact, masks amplify the effects of other illnesses. Four members of my family have had COVID…whatever that means, “having COVID” … and they ALL WORE MASKS AT WORK.

It is a muzzle not a mask. “They” do not want you communicating with one another for fear that you might figure out what is going on. Why do you think abortion clinics are essential and open, but churches are not essential and closed? You can get an abortion but not a haircut. Wake the hell up!!

Look, friends. If you will not say NO to a mask, will you have the courage to say NO to a mandatory needle in the arm? We better fight NOW while we can still win.

Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God. Time is running out. Let us fill up the jails. Take off the muzzle and bark …

We, The People are awakening from a four-decade slumber. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth. Welcome to the battle. Let the games begin …

Uncle Sam is on life-support. The genie is not going back into the bottle. Fly-over county is rumbling. Joe Biden will NEVER step foot in the White House.”

In the most deadly days of a global COVID-19 pandemic, this “coach” is an non-masker and an anti-vaxxer who encourages his followers to resist any sensible government health recommendations. He also actively supports resistance to the results of the 2020 Presidential Election while threatening incoming president Biden. And, he is a hypocritical ex-teacher who now condemns public education and ignores the important jurisprudential concept of separation of church and state.

And now this messianic imposter has decided to attack a National Historic Landmark because he doesn't understand the significance of the Adena and Fort Ancient culture that constructed a masterpiece of prehistoric architecture – the largest effigy mound in the world. Instead of treating the site with respect, awe and reverence, Daubenmire spites the landmark as some demonic creation of early American infidels.

It is he – “Coach” Dave Daubenmire – who is the evil spirit and the tormenter from hell.
